IDP Fantasy Football Outlook: It always seems like it something with Will Smith. Before his four game suspension, this offseason for his involvement in the bounty scandal, he was involved in the Star Caps law suit with the Williams Wall of Minnesota.
Smith should thrive in the Saints new scheme as Steve Spagnuolo’s defenses have had a long tradition of success for sacking the quarterback off the edge. Still, I can’t stand Smith’s inconsistent ways, and with him being out for the first month of the season, I will likely pass on him, with the exception being in my deeper leagues.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Coming off a bad season for sacks Will Smith’s IDP value was going to be lower and that was before he finally lost his StarCaps battle and will now miss the first month of the season. Smith will find the waiver wire to start the year in various leagues and he should as his tackle numbers have been down in recent years and he’s had five or fewer sacks in two of the past three seasons.
Because Smith should come cheep in your league, he’s probably worth a speculative pickup as we get to a week or two before his suspension is carried out. When Smith is on his game he can be a useful option to have for at least big play leagues.

2010 IDP Fantasy Football Outlook
It looks like Will Smith is in the clear on any suspensions for the ever lasting Star Caps situation. Last year Smith had a great year and bounced back from a career low of 3 sacks in 2008 with 13 in 2009. Look for Smith to have a strong year for your IDP fantasy squad once again.
