2012 Experience: 21st season
Fantasy Football Outlook: While Jason Hanson isn’t the kicker he once was, he still converted well overall and was ranked as Pro Football Focus’s 11th ranked kicker for the 2011 season. Even so the Lions are expected to bring in Dave Rayner for competition against this summer, because Hanson will be 42 years old this June.
Assuming Hanson still has his game intact, he will be the starter once again and should be a starting fantasy kicker in at least 12 team leagues. The Lions are going to put up a lot of offense this year, and that means Hanson will however be a valuable option to target, on draft day.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Jason Hanson was a favorite of mine for many years as he’s had one of the better legs to kick the 50 plus attempts. While the Lions have had more down years than up in his time, Hanson remained a steady option for them in his career but last season, he missed half the year because of injury. Now, it looks like the team will hold a kickoffin the summer between Hanson and Dave Rayner to see who will win the job.If Hanson makes the team he will be in his 20th season in the NFL and with the Lions, so hopefully we can see Hanson is good shape and ready to roll. If he should find his way back to the team, Hanson is worth keeping an eye on, as the Lions have the a young but explosive offense that could make this old veteran a top ten producer in 2011.

2010 Preview
It seems like there are three things you can count on every year at Thanksgiving. That is the Cowboys, Lions and kicker Jason Hanson as he is now in his 19th season in the NFL. If you think about it, some children have been born and are now adults and have never seen a NFL season go by without Hanson kicking on Thanksgiving. That said, Hanson isn’t much of a fantasy kicker until the Lions start showing more offense.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: It’s been a long and winding road throughout Jason Hanson’s career with the Detroit Lions. Many years of Hanson’s nineteen seasons have been washed away as the Lions continue to produce losing teams.
Still, Hanson has talent to be a good fantasy kicker, and it was only three years ago that he converted 29 attempts and had 14 of them go from 40 plus.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The Lions offense and team are starting to show more life as they’ve had a very good offseason and should be competitive this coming year. Because of this Hanson is a fantasy sleeper to be a productive option regularly at his old age.
Hanson still posses a strong leg and should get a good amount of opportunities as Matthew Stafford continues to grow as a quarterback. I wouldn’t recommend you draft Hanson this summer but if the Lions are playing good football and the kicker you drafted isn’t doing well, give Hanson a look.
