2012 Experience: 13th season While Rian Lindell has been a productive kicker in recent years, he missed the final eight games of the season, due to a shoulder injury, in 2011. Lindell has value in fantasy leagues, deeper than 10 teams, but I would like him more if a receiver should happen to develop opposite Steve Johnson.

Overall, I feel the Bills have had a good off-season upgrading on defense but I was disappointed they didn’t pickup a veteran receiver who can stretch the field vertically, and they lost some experienced offensive linemen. It’s likely that Lindell will go undrafted in your league, so keep an eye on his production, and the Bills offense, to see if he’s a worthy waiver addition.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

While Rian Lindell had a down year for attempts this strong kicker is still worth a look at the end of twelve team league drafts. If you look at Lindell’s attempts from the two previous seasons he was one of the better options in the game, in that area. Sure, he’s had some of the worst PAT totals in the past but the Bills offense clearly grew up last season.

Maybe Lindell isn’t worth drafting because of the team he plays for but he has proven to be a trustworthy kicker and he’s kicked well in the harsh elements of Buffalo’s winter weather. If this team is ready to take the next step, Lindell may find his way onto many fantasy lineups off the waiver wire.

2010 Preview

Rian Lindell is worth a waiver wire option for your bye week fill in as he can provide some steady games when his offense is moving the football. If Lindell played in better weather, he would be a fantasy worth player for your team throughout the season.

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: For all the problems, the Buffalo Bills had last season kicker Rian Lindell had another respectable year. For the season Lindell converted 28 of his 33 opportunities as he proved once again he can be a fantasy relevant player.

Unfortunately, Lindell’s pat’s went from 34 in 2008 to only 24 in 2009. I believe most of the reason for this is because the Bills gashed their offensive line and that was a killer.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Owner Ralph Wilson has had a good ride since the days when he helped start the AFL / AFC, but he’s getting long in the tooth. The old man was firing management and coaches fast and furious by mid season last year once he realized the team wasn’t as good as some in management made it out to be.

I’m sorry but it doesn’t take a genius to realize when you dismantle an offensive line you’re not going very far as a team. That may be a slap in the face to Wilson, but it’s hard to oversee all the team operations when you’re over ninety years old.

The Bills will probably be one of the worst teams in football this year and Lindell will have to suffer through another miserable season. This kicker has the leg and accuracy to be a fantasy option, but it’s hard to trust a kicker for your fantasy team when the scoring can be sparse at times.
