Fantasy Football Outlook: The trendy thought around the internet seems to be that Blaine Gabbert will struggle badly, paving the way for Chad Henne to take over as the starter in Jacksonville. While that may happen, the Jaguars new owner has made it clear that he wants to develop Gabbert, so expect them to stick with last year’s early first-round pick for some time.
If Henne lands a starting job he could hold some fantasy value, but until that time, he’s best left on the waiver wire, unless you’re in a deep dynasty league.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Chad Henne was a buzz name in fantasy football circles last summer as the Dolphins looked to their young quarterback to lead them back to the playoffs. The addition of Brandon Marshall was supposed to be the final piece to help Henne go to the next level, but by the end of the season Henne finished with more interceptions than touchdowns for the second year in a row.
This led to Bill Parcells publicly voicing his displeasure with Henne, and it was thought that the Dolphins might acquire a new quarterback in the off-season. While the Dolphins will probably bring in competition (trading for Carson Palmer) for Henne, they failed to draft anyone this past April.
In the end, that shouldn’t surprise anyone because this team is expected to win now and a rookie would take time to develop. If Henne should hold onto the job, he still doesn’t make for a good fantasy option. The Dolphins want to run the football and play defense to win games and Henne just isn’t good enough to be a reliable option.
Sure, he may find a hot streak during the season and could give your fantasy team a lift for a stretch but in the long run, this offense will need to open up before Henne is worth long term consideration.

2010 Preview
Chad Henne took over the starting job early in the 2009 season and progressed well over the year. Now Henne has a big time upgrade at receiver with the addition of Brandon Marshall. Look for Henne to continue his progression as an NFL quarterback.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Chad Henne received his chance to be the Dolphins’ starter when Chad Pennington went down for the season with another shoulder injury. For the year Henne threw more interceptions than he did touchdowns.
Henne had a decent start to his career but he will have to be much improved in the future to remain the teams’ starter for years to come.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Henne received the very thing he needed to take the next step in his career when the team landed Brandon Marhsall in a trade this past April. With Marshall, Henne now has a true number one receiver to go with his other cast of characters.
While Henne is in a better situation this year I still can’t recommend you select him on draft day. The Dolphins have the hardest schedule to pass against for 2010. When you’re in a division with the Bills, Jets and Patriots it’s going to be difficult to be a good fantasy quarterback.
Seeing that the Jets and Bills were number one and number two against the pass last year, it’s even more concerning about Henne’s chances for consistent success.
