Charlie Whitehurst

Charlie Whitehurst | QB

2011 Fantasy Football Outlook: While Tavaris Jackson looks to be penciled in as the Seahawks starting quarterback, don’t be surprised if you see a Charlie Whitehurst sighting at some point. I like just about everything the Seahawks have done on offense in free agency, expect for their quarterback situation, but if Whitehurst gets a chance to play, he will have respectable pass catchers and a suddenly decent offensive line to play with.

2011 June – Whitehurst Possible Starter

Charlie Whitehurst was brought over last off-season from the Chargers as a possible replacement for Matt Hasselbeck. While Whitehurst was given a shot to start at the end of the season, it was Hasselbeck that led the Seahawks to their victory of the Saints in the playoffs, and it looks likely that the team will bring him back for 2011.

In a year from now, the Seahawks could be set up as decent passing offense as they’ve retooled on the offensive line of the past two seasons, and they have talent in the passing game. While Whitehurst will be given an opportunity once again, it seems to me that if the team really thought he was the quarterback of the future, they would have let Hasselbeck leave for good this off-season.

2010 Preview

Born in Green Bay Wisconsin, I’m sure quarterback Charlie Whitehust grew up with football as an important part of his life. Now, the former Chargers’ backup is waiting in the wings should anything happen to veteran Matt Hasselback. Odds are Hasselbeck will get hurt, and we should find out what Whitehurst can do this coming year.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Charlie Whitehurst was stuck down on the depth chart in San Diego as Philip Rivers was the teams starter and Billy Volek was his backup. This wasn’t a team that Whitehurst was going to get a chance to play on, and it’s no wonder why he’s never seen the field in a regular season game.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The Seahawks seemed convinced that Whitehurst was a good get as they traded for him this offseason. Whitehust is being groomed as the teams future quarterback as Matt Hasselbeck is going to be 35 in September.

At some point this season we will probably see Whitehurst on the field as Hasselbeck will probably go down with an injury. He might see action also if and when the Seahawks fall out of contention for a playoff spot and the Seahawks want to take a look at Whitehurst before next years offseason.
