Colt McCoy

Colt McCoy | Cleveland Browns | No. 12 | QB

Height: 6-1 Weight: 210 | Born: 9/5/1986

2011 Experience: 2nd Season

Fantasy Football Outlook: While Colt McCoy won’t be the Browns official starting quarterback until he proves his worth in the preseason, it is expected that the second year quarterback will be the starter. With Jake Delhomme washed up as a starter it only makes sense that the Browns would give McCoy an opportunity to see what he can do on the field.

McCoy won’t be on the radar at fantasy football drafts, but I wouldn’t be surprised of a receiver breaks out on this team in 2011. Mohammed Massaquoi will be in his key third year, and they did draft Greg Little out of Carolina. Defenses will be forced to respect the running game as Peyton Hillis was one of the best runners in football last season. Look for the Browns to remain a run heavy offense, but McCoy should be able to take advantage of defenses loading up to stop the run.

2010 Preview

Colt McCoy had to wait until the third round when the Browns finally decided it was time to address their quarterback situation. With an aged Jake Delhomme and a career backup in Seneca Wallace, McCoy is the future quarterback of this franchise.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

College / 2010 NFL Draft: Colt McCoy had a great career with the Texans Longhorns, but it ended with injury in the Championship game. Upon draft day it looked like McCoy might end up being close to a first round pick, but instead he fell down into the third round.

Finally, the Browns selected him after passing on him a few times in the second round, and they now have some resemblance of a quarterback for the future.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: McCoy will probably begin his career as the teams third quarterback as he will be behind NFL greats Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme. Given the players in front of him, it’s not hard to believe that McCoy could see some playing time by the seasons end.

Hopefully, we can see some of McCoy’s young wide receivers make strides throughout the season as he will need them to play well once he gets on the field. Overall it’s going to be a long season for the Browns passing game and McCoy won’t be taking them very far any time soon.
