Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
As surprised as I am to see Matt Hasselbeck out of Seattle, it was likely that the Seahawks were moving in another direction. Now the veteran is going to start for the Titans, and it’s probably going to be a tough year. Running back Chris Johnson is likely headed for a lengthy holdout, and his top receiver Kenny Britt has some major maturity issues.
Hasselbeck will more than likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Jake Locker at some point in the second half of the season, because the Titans will fall out of playoff contention or Hasselbeck will fail to stay healthy. Obviously, Hassebeck isn’t worth targeting at your fantasy draft, but hopefully he can help Britt find consistent success.

2011 June
It almost seemed like the Seahawks would be happy to lose Matt Hasselbeck to free agency but the seasons end but a terrific playoff game against the Saints, the lack of development from Charlie Whitehurst and the lockout have Seattle almost begging Hasselbeck to stay.
Hopefully, the additions through the draft to bolster the offensive line will give Hasselbeck more time in the pocket to find his receivers. Better pass protection from the lineman would also allow John Carlson to go out on more pass patterns and not stay in for blocking. As for fantasy goes, Hasselbeck could make someone like Mike Williams a fantasy starter, but this veteran isn’t worth stashing on your roster.
2010 Preview
In all the new changes’ coach Pete Carroll will make this offseason, I hope he remembers to upgrade the offensive line. Matt Hasselbeck has been killed over the past two years because his protection is very poor. Without Hasselbeck the Seahawks are doomed to finish in third place in the NFC West again in 2010.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Matt Hasselbeck scuffled through another injury early in the season as he broke a rib against the 49ers week two. This cost Hasselbeck two games but he did return and played the rest of the season. With a patch work offensive line, tight end John Carlson had to stay at home and pass protect and Hasselbeck struggled to move the football.
On the season, the aging veteran only posted seventeen touchdowns to go with his seventeen interceptions.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Hasselbeck is penciled in as the teams starting quarterback for this up coming season. While Hasselbeck will keep his job, former Chargers’ quarterback Charlie Whitehurst is expected to be the teams future at this position.
If and when Hasselbeck sustains another injury he may not see his starting job again if Whitehurst plays well in his absence.
As for Hasselbeck’s fantasy value, he’s not worth selecting on draft day because of his health problems and the Seahawks offensive line issues.
