Fantasy Football Outlook: It’s time to be concerned about the Cowboys offense and Romo’s prospects on delivering a consistent QB1 value. With Miles Austin suffering another hamstring injury in camp, and Jason Witten battling a spleen issue, Romo’s weapons in the passing game are beatup.

The offensive line clearly needs time to gel and with Dallas starting out on the road against the Giants and Seahawks, we shouldn’t look to Romo as a top ten option early on.

I believe we will see the Cowboys figure things out as the season moves along, but for now Romo is going to be outside my top ten quarterbacks.

August 2012: Injuries Piling Up, Romo’s Fantasy Stock Going Down

May, 2012: Fantasy Projections

Tony Romo struggled with consistency at times last year, but a re-worked offensive line; the emergence of DeMarco Murray in the backfield and nagging injuries slowed him down. Still, Romo is a top ten fantasy quarterback and will likely throw for over 4,000 yards again.

Changes have come about in the receiving corps as Laurent Robinson moved on to the Jaguars, but I really like middle round selection Danny Coale as a No.3 slot man in this offense. He still needs to win the job, but Coale will take over this spot at some point, giving Romo another dependable target.

What could turn Romo’s numbers into a low end top five fantasy quarterback, is if Dez Bryant can break out and become the receiver his talent suggests, he can be? I’m not sure it will happen, but one clue we need to keep our eye’s on this summer is if Bryant is showing vast improvement in his route running abilities.

While Murray has proven to be a dependable starting tailback, his meager two rushing touchdowns, suggest the Cowboys will still lean on Romo to toss it in the end zone.

If you fail to haul in one of the elite quarterbacks on draft day, opting for the early mid-rounds, Romo is a solid addition going as the 9th overall quarterback (ADP average 6.04) of late.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

Coming off this first playoff victory and the addition of rookie Dez Bryant, quarterback Tony Romo had high expectations to post one of his best statistical years of his career. A slow start turned to disaster when Romo was done for the season six weeks in due to a broken left collarbone.

Some say the Cowboys offensive line fell off last season but to their credit Romo was only sacked seven times in the six games he played. Now recovered from his injury, Romo stands in at probably his lowest ranking as far as quarterbacks go since he broke out, as the seventh signal caller taken at most drafts.

Early ADP results found on Mock Draft Central, Romo is ranked as the 76th overall selection and that makes him an eight round pick in ten team leagues. I would expect that number to climb as the preseason gets underway and fantasy owners see how he performs. In the end, Romo still has great talent around him as Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten are all quality targets.

The Cowboys’ offense (especially the secondary) will give up some points this season so the Cowboys will be forced to light up the scoreboard to win games. Expect that to happen as Romo looks to have the performance, we all expect last season.

2010 Preview

Tony Romo is looking just fine with breakout star receiver Miles Austin and tight end Jason Witten in his passing attack. If Roy Williams ever got it going (or someone else) this passing game would be very scary once again.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: The big talk last offseason was if Tony Romo could still be a top quarterback without Terrell Owens on the team. Many believed for Romo to remain a success, he needed to find Roy Williams early and often.

In the end, Williams had another horrible season as he continued to make excuses for his play and Miles Austin was the Pro Bowl receiver in Dallas. Romo would go on to post just under 4,500 yards passing and 26 touchdown passes.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Look for Romo to go back over thirty touchdowns this season as he has more talent with Dez Bryant and Kevin Ogletree showing promise.

Austin will be the teams top pass catcher and Jason Witten is in the mix as well. Oh, and for now they still have Williams, so I guess he’s good for the occasional reception and touchdown t00.

Bottom line Romo should have a more consistent fantasy season this year with so much talent around him. Now, we just need to see if the offensive line can keep him healthy as they will have a new left tackle this season.
