Fantasy Football Outlook: While DeMarco Murray’s presence in the Cowboys’ backfield probably marks the end for Marion Barber, it may not solve the teams’ injury prone problems at this position. Murray has the skill set to be a decent fantasy option, but he will probably lack enough touches in the offense with Tashard Choice and Felix Jones on the roster.
Last season with Oklahoma, Murray posted 71 receptions for over 500 yards and the Cowboys are expected to use him in the slot at times. This use will give him added value in PPR leagues as the Cowboys seem committed to giving him the football in different ways.
Because of Murray’s projected health concerns, he’s probably never going to be a feature type back, which means he may find a stretch of solid play for fantasy football but ultimately will find his way to the bench or waiver wire in many leagues.
