Fantasy Football Outlook: LaDainian Tomlinson started out hot for the Jets but faded as the season moved deeper into November. The veteran future Hall Of Fame running back, may be playing his final season in the league, as the Jets are loading up with four running backs, and he’s not likely to stay with the team after this season.
While Tomlinson isn’t the running back he used to be, I could still see him making a run this season that could get him in fantasy lineups if Shonn Greene performs the way he did a year ago. Greene as supposed to be the teams top running back but was clearly not ready to take that spot on the team. In the end, it will take collective injuries for any running back on this team to be looked at as a weekly starter.

LaDainian Tomlinson has a new team as he signed a deal with the New York Jets. Now, look for Tomlinson to be Shonn Greene’s third down backup this season.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: LaDainian Tomlinson was clearly a different running back in his final season with the Chargers. While he did post a good touchdown total his explosion was gone and Tomlinson was not the runner we knew for so long. By seasons end Tomlinson failed to rush for over 1,000 for the first time in his career as he posted only 730 yards with a 3.3 yard per carry average.
Tomlinson also failed to reach at least 50 receptions for the first time in his career as he only posted 20 on the season. This was a clear sign that all the work this runner had in the past had officially caught up to him.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Tomlinson had to make a choice if he was going to the Jets or the Vikings this offseason and in the end, he chose New York. There is a reason why Tomlinson is in a backup role with the Jets and that is because he’s not good enough to start in the NFL.
This season Tomlinson is going to be the third down back behind Shonn Greene, and he is projected to get around the same amount of carries that Leon Washington had in this offense. If that holds true than Tomlinson would probably see less than 100 carries on the season.
Because Tomlinson isn’t running the football as much this season I wouldn’t be surprised if his yard per carry average went back over 4, but he won’t be explosive like Washington was. Don’t by into Tomlinson being a viable threat to slow down Greene’s fantasy production this season as the Jets tend to use one running back for most of the work.
