Fantasy Football Outlook: What a cruel joke for Rashard Mendenhall as the off-season after he tears his ACL the Steelers upgrade the offensive line in the draft. While the Steelers maintain they expect Mendenhall to play at some point this year, he will likely begin the season on the PUP list.
By the time he comes back, it will be interesting to see how effective runners like Isaac Redman have been over the year, and if Mendenhall can win a starting job back, right away.
Don’t look to Mendenhall as a draftable option unless you play in leagues deeper than ten teams.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Not many running backs have a traditional feature back role in the NFL these days but Rashard Mendenhall is one of those players. Mendenhall may be an idiot and a little weird but the guy has talent and will be a top ten fantasy back at drafts this summer.
Mendenhall will probably never be a top five fantasy back because he can give fantasy owners the top end stats and his receiving production is way down from most of the other top fifteen options, these days. Still, the Steelers will ride this big man as the main option in the running game, and he should have not a problem duplicating his double digit touchdown total from 2010.

2010 Preview
Rashard Mendenhall is doing exactly what the Steelers needed from him this season and that is carrying the offense. His overtime touchdown to beat the Falcons just shows you that the Steelers continue to believe in this young tail back as a star player.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Rashard Mendenhall went under the radar for most of last offseason as he was out for most of his rookie year with a broken shoulder. Then early in the season, Mendenhall was held out of playing with the team because he wasn’t taking care of details in practice.

By week four, Mendenhall received an opportunity to start because Willie Parker suffered turf toe and wasn’t able to play. In that game, the young running back pounded the football for 165 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Chargers.
After this fine performance, Mendenhall remained the starting tailback and ran for over 1,100 yards and eight total touchdowns.
2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The Steelers management and fan base have been screaming for a return to hard nosed defense and a smash mouth running game. This means good things for Mendenhall because the defense should give him many opportunities and his number will be called often for the ground game.
Now, all we need to see is if Mendenhall is going to win the short yardage, goal line role on the team. One would have to believe he will succeed as he is best fit to handle these duties, but he did have struggles in this area last year.
If Mendenhall wins the job, he should creep his way into the late first round of some fantasy leagues come draft day.
