Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Now a Redskin, Tim Hightower quickly took over as the favorite to start in Washington after Ryan Torain went down with another injury. Hightower is a survivor and he will likely be the starting tail back to begin the year, as he’s having a solid preseason, and his experience is important for the Redskins offense.
At best you should only consider Hightower a late round selection this year, as you can’t trust the Shanahan’s to stay with one running back for an extended amount of time.

2011 June
The selection of Ryan Williams in early portion of the second round at this year drafts, marks the final stamp of disappointment from Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells last season. While I don’t believe the Cardinals running problems were solely to blame on their running backs, but their failure to keep the offense successful on the ground, brought about change this off-season.
Of the two veteran running backs on the Cardinals’ roster it should be Tim Hightower that his hurt most by this news. In many ways Williams is the same style of running back that Hightower is, except, he has more talent. I’m not sure this will translate into a successful formula for the Cardinals, but they are going in another direction, and that makes Hightower un-draftable in fantasy football leagues this summer.
2010 Preview
Tim Hightower was able to fend off Beanie Wells for most of the ‘09 season as he started every game. Still, Wells was clearly the better running back in the second half of the season, and at some point he will take over for Hightower. Look for Hightower to be a decent third down back and a respectable fill in if Wells should get hurt.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Tim Hightower may have hung onto the starting job in Arizona last season, but it was in name only as the schedule went deeper. Down the stretch, it was easy to see that Beanie Wells was the better running back in this offense and the numbers backed it up.
For the season Hightower did post a 4.2 yard per carry average and also had eight touchdowns on the ground. These numbers kept Hightower on fantasy rosters through the season.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: It looks like Hightower is primed to remain the Cardinals starting tail back over Wells. Hightower isn’t the better running back but the coaching staff seems to like him as a consistent worker in the offense. This is a very unfortunate situation for Wells as he looks ready to make a big impact on the league in his second year.
Not only will Hightower take away valuable touches from the former first round pick, but he should take touchdowns from him as well. Hightower has averaged nine rushing touchdowns in his first two season and has proven to be productive at the goal line. Wells has also had success in this area but at times the Cardinals will keep Hightower in.
