Fantasy Football Outlook: The loss of safety Nick Collins had a big impact on this defense last year, and unfortunately they decided to release him this offseason. Collins carrier could be over from his neck injury, which has brought on discussion that Charles Woodson may play safety.
Expect Dom Capers to use Woodson all over the field as a movable chess piece. Woodson is a key player in this defense, but rookies Nick Perry and Jerel Worthy will likely be asked to play early on. Perry will play outside linebacker, on the opposite side of the field from Clay Matthews.
Worthy figures to swing away from his traditional tackle spot in college to a defensive end in the 3-4 scheme, the Packers run. Both should help in creating pressure on the quarterback, and that will be important with Jay Cutler and Matthew Stafford in the division.
Two main questions about this defense are, can the secondary hold up, and can the Packers play respectable against the run?
If they hope to win a Super Bowl, they must figure this out, but because I have my concerns. Look to the Packers as a low end starting option on draft day. This will be a solid matchup play defense, but not one you want to count on every week.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
The Packers are clearly deserving of being one of the top two defenses off the board as only the Steelers are worthy of being ranked above them. Not only do the Packers have great skill on defense they have the ability to get to the quarterback and make turnovers with a frequency that is top rate. My only concern for this group is that they are coming of a Super Bowl victory and it is always a challenge the next season as every team will try to give you their best game.
Coming into the summer, the Packers team defense ADP value on Mock Draft Central has them listed as the second best defense going in redraft leagues and ESPN has them ranked as the second best scoring defense. Only the Steelers are head of them and both project as great defenses to use most weeks.

2010 Preview
The Packers changed their defensive look to a 3- 4 style and brought in coordinator Dom Capers to orchestrate disruption. With a new swagger, the Packers went on to have a top flight defense that saw Charles Woodson have one of the greatest years of all time for a corner back. Look for the Packers to have another fine season with Capers pulling the strings in the background.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: The Green Bay Packers team defense was our favorite sleeper defense coming into the 2009 season because they added B.J. Raji for the run and they added Dom Capers as the teams defensive coordinator. In Capers the Packers have one of the best coaches to run the three – four style defense.
With the players, they already had and the additions of Raji and Clay Matthews Jr, it’s no wonder this group was one of the best to have in 2009.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The Pack is back with a strong group of players as they look to have another fine season on defense and as a team. This should be the year they really push the Vikings for the division title, and they will probably beat them once this season.
With Capers pulling the strings, this unit should be aggressive as they are ready to attack their opponent and sack the quarterback. Look for the Packers to increase their sack total to around 40 plus this up coming season.
