Fantasy Football Outlook: I like some of the parts on the Titans defense. Their corners can make some plays and the addition of safeties Bernard Pollard and George Wilson. Defensive end Derrick Morgan took another step to being a Pro Bowl player and they have a talented linebacking core.
One player who needs to stay healthy is middle linebacker Colin McCarthy. An instinctive player, McCarthy can make plays sideline to sideline and I believe he has the attributes to be the quarterback of the defense. Unfortunately, he suffered a high ankle sprain week one and then a concussion towards the end of the season.
Don’t look to the Titans as an option to draft as they will likely struggle at times this season. If they start slow we could see a coaching change by mid-season but this squad does have enough ability to be a consideration off the waiver wire against teams like the Jaguars.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projections
While I like some of the pieces to this defense, it’s hard to get behind them as a draftable option. I’m not a fan of the Titans coaching staff, but they could become an asset in the second half of the season.
With Cortland Finnegan gone, Tennessee will rely on Jason McCourty and Alterraun Verner as the starters. Both are young but have a starting experience under their belts.
Middle linebacker Colin McCarthy is a talent and play well down the stretch. I’m also interested to see how Kamerion Wimbley does off the edge, and hopefully this is the year Derrick Morgan breaks out.
Put it all together and this is an interesting group, but one to avoid until they prove they can play well together.
Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
The Titans actually weren’t that bad of a defense overall but their offense left them on the field way too much and that should be the case in 2011. While I still hold out hope for the Titans to turn things around in the next couple years, it’s probably going to take at least one season to get things straightened out on the offensive side before the Titans are a trust worthy defense for fantasy football leagues.

2010 Preview
Since the Titans great defensive season in 2008 they have lost key veterans in the past two offseasons. Last year they lost their center piece in Albert Haynesworth and this offseason they’ve already lost DE Kyle Vanden Bosch.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: The loss of Albert Haynesworth and injuries in the secondary turned this one time top ten defense into an unreliable group. In the second half of the season the Titans defense got their secondary players back and started having some respectability once again.
Even with a decent close to the season this group was still 31th against the pass and 28th in total points given up.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Don’t look for the Titans’ defense as an option worth drafting this summer as they are still in a rebuilding phase. The team continues to see once key star talents in KVB and Keith Bulluck leave the team or see reduced roles.
One area this team played respectable in is against the run as they were 11th overall. This is a good but when you face Matt Schaub and Peyton Manning four times a year you need a shut down secondary. The Titans should be better against the pass, but they probably won’t be a top ten group.
Assets
- Decent Against The Run
- Good Overall Team
Liabilities
- Rebuilding
- Need To Play Much Better Overall
