Fantasy Football Outlook: Another horrible year in pass coverage is what you can expect from the Vikings. Yeah, they took free safety Harrison Smith at the end of the first round, but consider that a stretch, because of desperation.

When you play Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford and Jay Cutler (upgrades in passing game) you know those are six games the Vikings will be torched.

Jared Allen will likely have another productive year, but overall this is a defense to stay away from if you’re targeting a backup team defense.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

The Vikings were still a decent defensive team in 2010, but it was clear they weren’t the same squad as in years past. Kevin Williams is likely to finally miss time for his Star Capssituation and that won’t help matters against the run or the pass. The team is still holding out hope that Pat Williams will re-sign (will serve four game suspension as well) for a one year deal but at his age, he’s not likely to play at the level he did a few years back.Look to the Vikings as a top ten defense but one of the later in the bounce and not at top five group as they’ve been for a few years now.

2010 Preview

It looks like the Williams Wall is still intact as Pat Williams is expected to return for another season. If the Vikings get Brett Favre back they will be one of the heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl. Look for the Vikings’ defense to be strong no matter what.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: The Vikings defense always seem to have their problems in pass protection, but they are still one of the best teams when it comes to stuffing the run and creating disruption.

This is why fantasy owners love to have this defense and why they are one of the premier fantasy defense’s to own. In 2009, the Vikings started out guns blazing but fell on tough times when the fantasy playoffs began. All of a sudden, the passing game looked slow and the Vikings’ defense broke down against the pass. This hurt fantasy owners, especially in leagues that give points for turnovers.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Early in the Spring it looked like the Williams Wall would miss a month because of their Star Caps situation but now a Judge as ruled that the trial will basically be moved until next year. This makes the Vikings’ defense strong once again, and they should be one of the top fantasy defense to get this year.
