2012 Fantasy Playoffs: Pitta’s Stock Trending Up

With Joe Flacco struggling to keep Torrey Smith involved in the offense, it appears Pitta is the one taking advantage. The Ravens have struggled on defense this year and while the Giants are coming of a horrible game in Atlanta, we should expect them to score up to 30 points in this game.

Pitta should be active and makes for a respectable low-end TE1 down the stretch.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

I really liked Dennis Pitta’s pass catching ability at BYU but his two concussions last year in short work, have me concerned that he will every be a fantasy relevant player. Pitta has had concussion problems before last year, so this is something worth paying attention too, and I’m sure the Ravens are hoping he has a healthy year in 2011.

For now, Pitta is stuck as the third tight end down the list and Todd Heap is the starter and Ed Dickson is the backup. Don’t look to Pitta as an option even in dynasty leagues at this point.
8/12 Update -

With Todd Heap gone, Dennis Pitta is playing well and will be active in the Ravens offense. Expect him to split time with Ed Dickson, but he could have fantasy relevance later in the season.

2010 Preview

Dennis Pitta wasn’t even the first tight end taken by the Ravens this season but I still hold out hope for this talented pass catcher. If Pitta was a solid run blocker he probably would’ve been a high second round pick because of his great hands and receiving skills. Don’t expect much from Pitta in 2010 but once Todd Heap leaves the team this kid could be a top ten fantasy tight end.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

College / 2010 NFL Draft: Dennis Pitta had a productive career with BYU as he was clearly their top go to man in the passing game. For all his success and great hands, he couldn’t land on an NFL team until the mid rounds of the draft.

I was disappointed to see that Pitta was selected on a team that already chose a good tight end in Ed Dickson a round before.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Pitta and Dickson will see time on the field this year but Todd Heap should be the teams starting tight end. Talk has floated around that the Ravens will use more of a two tight end set at times. In certain games, I could see that happening but other times they will use their deep receiving core to beat opponents.

Pitta isn’t a fantasy relevant name this year, but he is a good route runner and has the type of hands that remind me of Dallas Clark. Eventually, Pitta will find the field on a regular basis, but he will probably have to wait until the team releases Heap.
