Fantasy Football Outlook: Ed Dickson will remain as the inline tight end for the Ravens, but I’m not sure he will ever surpass TE2 value. A respectable backup in fantasy leagues, Dickson has talent but Joe Flacco’s development has been a disappointment, and at some point we may just have to come to grips with Flacco only being a middle-of-the-road player at his position.

Look for the Ravens to remain as a run first team, and Dickson should be good for around 60 receptions and five touchdowns.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections

Be it that I’m an Oregon Ducks fan, I expected a little more from Ed Dickson in his first season with the Ravens. That said, it’s understandable that Dickson found his hard times in his development as it can be a challenge for rookie players in many ways, year one. This year, I expect Dickson to overtake Todd Heap as the starter at some point or at least show that he’s ready to be the clear starting option by 2012.

This is what the Ravens drafted him to be, and if he doesn’t show more I’m sure they will add another tight end in the draft next year, as fellow second year tight end Dennis Pitta is a health (two concussions last year) concern.

2010 Preview

Ed Dickson may have to play behind Todd Heap this season but in the coming years he will have an opportunity to be a good fantasy tight end. Unfortunately, for Dickson the Ravens also draft Pitta and he is another very good pass catching tight end. It will be interesting to see who wins Heap’s job when he finally leaves.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Ed Dickson was a respectable pass catcher for the Oregon Ducks as he was one of their better players on offense. In the draft, he landed in a great situation with the Ravens as Todd Heap’s days are numbered with this team after 2010.

Unfortunately, the team also grabbed Dennis Pitta later in the draft and now Dickson will probably be hurt by Pitta in future years.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Dickson will probably be the teams starting tight end come 2011 if all goes well this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more two tight end packages from the Ravens’ offense as they have great depth in this position.

For 2010, Dickson will probably be known more for limiting Heap’s fantasy value than for his own contributions to the team.
