Fantasy Football Outlook: Coming off a late-season knee injury, it’s hard to know what Miller will bring to the table. It’s possible Miller could find the PUP for the first six weeks of the season and we shouldn’t expect him to maintain the numbers he had in Todd Haley’s offense last year, mainly because of his injury rehab.
It’s probably best if you stay away from Miller in summer drafts unless you’re in a deep league or you start two tight ends and can afford to wait on Miller.

Summer of 2012: Fantasy Projections
The Steelers figure to run more of a spread passing attack this year, and while it should help Heath Miller’s numbers, it won’t be enough to make him more than a TE2 in fantasy leagues.
A reliable target for Ben Roethlisberger, Miller will remain as a productive tight end in the NFL, but best to stay away from him, unless you’re in deep leagues.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Pass protection was a problem for the Steelers and Heath Miller’s stats were affected as he stayed in a blocked. While Miller will continue to be a part of the offense, his 2009 numbers were probably tops in his career and fantasy owners should look to other options when rounding out their squads on draft day. Look to Miller as a tight end that can help you off the waiver wire for a bye week fill in but you won’t want to have him on a weekly basis.

2010 Preview
Heath Miller had himself a very solid fantasy season in 2009. This coming year, I expect Miller’s stats to come back to earth as the Steelers are rumored to be running the football more in 2010.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Heath Miller set career highs in receptions and yardage as the Steelers threw the football. For the year Miller had 76 receptions for 789 yards and six touchdowns. This production made Miller a fantasy starting relevant player as the Steelers continued to throw deep into the season.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Many changes have taken place since the end of last season as Ben Roethlisberger is expected to miss at least the first four games of the year and Saintonio Homes is gone to the Jets. Even worse for Miller is that Pittsburgh is sold out to run the football once again, and they won’t be throwing as much as last year.
Given this news, Millers fantasy value is going to take a hit and his stock on draft day will slide all the way to the end of the draft or a selection on waiver wires. Many fantasy owners won’t trust the Steelers situation, especially when it comes to anyone in the passing game.
For all the negatives Miller has going for him, I do still see a few positives in this mess of a situation. For one, now that Holmes is gone the Steelers should have more pass plays drawn up for Miller to get the football. As the season progresses and Roethlisberger finds his way on the field, Miller should enjoy more activity as his quarterback has no problem going his way at any time.
Miller isn’t going to be a strong fantasy option early in the year, but he may be more fantasy relevant in the second half of the year than many people think.
