Bernard Berrian

Bernard Berrian | WR

2011 Fantasy Football Outlook: Bernard Berrian was the top receiver in the Vikings’ offense in his first year with the team in 2008 but has failed to show the same effectiveness since Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice became the top options in the passing game. Heck, Rice was out for most of last season and Berrian couldn’t even find the endzone thought the entire season.

Some believe Berrian may not make it with the team by as early as the start of training camp and that wouldn’t surprise me as he’s failed to show much in the past few seasons. I would say that Berrian’s fantasy relevance is done for good but if he should land on the right team (if cut) he may come out of nowhere like Mike Williams did with the Seahawks.

2010 Preview

Bernard Berrian should be a good fantasy producer with Sidney Rice out but he just doesn’t seem to get along with Brett Favre. Don’t look to Berrian as a fantasy option this season.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Bernard Berrian had a most forgettable season in 2009 even though the Vikings’ passing game prospered, and he was projected to be the Vikings top fantasy target in the summer. Because if Berrian’s failure to produce it was young receivers like Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin that became the pass catchers to have in 2009.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Berrian didn’t project out to be a draft worthy receiver in the early part of the summer because of the talent around him and his past numbers. Now, Berrian is coming back to relevance because of health concerns with Harvin and Rice.

Rice has a hip problem that more than one doctor told him he needed surgery on this off-season. Rice opted for no surgery as he is in a contract season and then re-aggravated the hip in July.

Harvin has had continued migraine headaches in training camp, and those migraines cost him playing time last season. In Harvin’s situation, he’s had this migraine issue for a long time, and it isn’t likely to go away this season.

If Harvin or Rice should miss any extended time this season Berrian would get more looks in the passing game. Look for Berrian as a nice depth draft pick. He might not be a player you want to start right away, but he could end up having a decent year like in 2008.
