Jordy Nelson

Jordy Nelson | Green Bay Packers | WR

Height: 6-3 Weight: 217 | Born: 5/31/1985

2011 Experience: 4th Year

Fantasy Football Outlook: Before James Jones re-signed with the Packers, I had Jordy Nelson down as a sleeper. With Jones and Donald Driver will hurt Nelson’s chances of breakout as Aaron Rodgers continues to spread the football around. If Nelson can win the No.2 job over Jones and Driver he would be worth a look as one of the top forty receivers to draft.

June 2011

Coming into the 2011 season Jordy Nelson will be on our radar as a fantasy sleeper as his hot post season is likely to land him the No.2 job with the Packers. As we are still in the lockout, James Jones is a free agent, but it looks like the team will make a go for trying to re-sign him. Jones’s drop balls should keep him out of the starting job, and Donald Driver is looking more like a No.3 or 4 receiver these days.

Coming into the summer Nelson doesn’t even make the 59 man just on Mock Draft Central’s ADP value listing for receivers in standard redraft leagues. If Nelson should make a legitimate play for a starting job, his ADP value will climb as we head closer to the beginning of the season. At this time, Nelson makes for a great late round selection in ten team leagues and deeper, but you may even find him on the waiver wire in many leagues, if you missed out on him at your draft.

Someone is going to make plays in the Packers’ offense with Aaron Rodgers throwing the football and Nelson has the tools to be a potential No.2 fantasy receiver at some point. This is a great deep sleeper to keep your eyes on as we move closer to the season and through the season.

2010 Preview

Jordy Nelson is probably the most talented No.4 receivers in the game outside of Anthony Gonzalez in Indianapolis. Seeing that Aaron Rodgers has this kind of depth to throw to in the field, it’s no wonder he is the top fantasy quarterback and a first round pick in 2010.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Jordy Nelson played well when he found time on the field but for most of the season he was stuck down on the depth chart as the No.4 receiver. For a team that already has so many talented pass catchers it was hard for Nelson to show the skill he has.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: The door may have opened for Nelson this offseason as Donald Driver (35 years old) had surgery on both this knees. At his old age, Driver may not bounce back and be able to play at a level that is worth having him start over James Jones and Nelson.

With Driver’s health concerns if Jones continues to have a high drop ball ratio the Packers may turn to Nelson as a starter as the season goes along. For draft day Nelson isn’t a selection worth going after because he will probably start the year as the teams No.3 receiver at best.
