Julian Edelman

Julian Edelman | WR

2011 Fantasy Football Outlook: Coming into last season, Julian Edelman made for a trendy deep sleeper option as Wes Welker was coming of a week seventeen torn ACL injury. As it turned out, Edelman was the receiver that had the injury plagued season as Welker hung tough in his return from a major injury. At this time, Edelman will need a bunch of injuries in front on him or move on to another team before he has any fantasy relevance.

2010 Preview

Julian Edelman received an opportunity to take over for Wes Welker after the veteran suffered a nasty knee injury in week 17. In the playoffs Edelman had two touchdown catches, and it’s clear to see that he can be productive in the Patriots’ offense. With Welker probably out or limited because of his knee, Edelman makes for a solid fantasy option on draft day.

2010 Fantasy Football Outlook

2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Julian Edelman was just a role player in the Patriots’ offense until Wes Welker tore his ACL in the final game of the season. In that contest Edelman had ten receptions for over 100 yards receiving. The following week in the playoffs Edelman was the teams lone bright spot as he posted two touchdowns in a loss to the Ravens.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: For most of the spring Edelman has been a hot name in fantasy circles because many of us thought Welker wouldn’t be back until at least the final six games of the 2010 season. Welker didn’t even have surgery on his knee until February, and it usually takes awhile for a player to return from that problem.

In June Welker surprised everyone as he was back on the field and looking good as he worked out in drills. Just to see him making sharp cuts and moving around well is a big positive at this point. It is unknown when Welker will officially be ready to get back into regular season games but when he does it will greatly hurt Edelman.

If Welker is back by the start of the season Edelman won’t be worth having on your fantasy team but that may not happen. It Welker is out for a few games than Edelman makes for a decent selection towards the end of your draft.
