Fantasy Football Outlook: An upside talent with big-play potential Lestar Jean lost out in his opportunity to play as a rookie when he suffered a shoulder injury. Coming off the draft, Head Coach Gary Kubiak talked up his second-year receiver.
With Andre Johnson sidelined with a knee injury, Jean received valuable work in the starting lineup opposite Kevin Walter, and he’s likely the favorite to win a starting job at some point.
Let’s face it, Walter shouldn’t be in the starting lineup. With Jean and a few other rookie receivers around, he’s likely to be replaced on the outside, at some point this year.
Jean has talent, but he was raw coming out of a small school last year. Consider his work in the starting lineup as praise that his coaches feel he can be an option for more playing time. This would be a good move for Houston, as Johnson is getting older, and they need a youthful receiver who can run vertical routes.
Don’t look to Jean as an option to select in redraft leagues, but he does hold some value as a late selection in dynasty drafts. Keep an eye on him in the preseason.
