Fantasy Football Outlook: Steve Breaston’s days as a starter are numbered if Jonathan Baldwin is ready to step up and play on the outside. In terms of ADP trends, Breaston has failed to make the top 63 receivers off the board.
Target Baldwin as a deep stash on your team and avoid Breaston. While the veteran will contribute to the offense, his days as a fantasy option may be over.

Summer of 2011: Fantasy Projections
Steve Breaston decided to hook up with his old offensive coordinator Todd Haley in Kansas City and could possible starter over rookie Jonathan Baldwin to start the season. Coach Haley found great success with a three receiver set in Arizona when he had Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Breaston to go with Kurt Warner. Now, Haley has a talented three receiver set to go with other skill players like tight end Tony Moeaki, slash man Dexter McCluster and running back Jamaal Charles. Problem is, the Chiefs don’t have Warner under center as Matt Cassel is the man these days. While I do believe Cassel will have another solid season, Breaston will probably be just another pass catcher in this offense as the year moves along. If you must, take a flair shot on Breaston in the late rounds of your draft but don’t over pay for him, as he will likely be a bye week fill in at best.

2011 June
Depending on what happens with rights to players after the lockout the Cardinals may lose Steve Breaston to the free agent market as he’s a four year player. No matter where Breaston ends up he needs to up his game and especially in the touchdown category before he’s worth looking at in any fantasy football scoring style.
2010 Preview
Steve Breaston was having a decent start to the season but a knee injury week three has set him back. It could be up to a month before Breaston is a worthy fantasy play for your squad.
2010 Fantasy Football Outlook
2009 Fantasy Year In Review: Steve Breaston had a breakout season in 2008 when he posted 77 receptions for over 1,000 yards as the Cardinals third receiver. In 2009, Breaston didn’t enjoy as much success, but he did have 55 catches and 712 yards.

2010 NFL Fantasy Football Player Rankings: Breaston is all geared up to take on a starting job opposite Larry Fitzgerald as the team traded away Anquan Boldin this offseason. The two knocks for Breaston are for one he doesn’t have Kurt Warner as his quarterback and the other is that he’s only averaged three touchdowns the past two seasons.
With Matt Leinart under center, I still believe that Breaston should make a run for over a 1,000 yards on the season, but I’m concerned about his touchdown total. Fitzgerald is a great touchdown maker, and he will get many of the teams’ opportunities inside the red zone.
Fantasy owners shouldn’t expect Breaston to reach over five touchdowns in his first season as a starter. This makes his value stronger in heavy yardage leagues. Keep this in mind when you start considering Breaston and other receivers in the middle rounds of your fantasy draft.
