Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers v Denver Broncos

2009 Record/Standing: 9-7 | 3rd AFC North

Offensive Stats:

Points 23 (12th) | Pass 259 (9th) | Run 112 (19th)

Defensive Stats:

Points 20.2 (13th) | Pass 215 (16th) | Run 90 (3rd)

Steeler Notes: It looks like the Steelers are primed to get back to their run first attitude on offense and playing championship defense. While a throw first approach is fun to watch, it didn’t help the Steelers make the playoffs and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took extra punishment. Now, it will be imperative that Rashard Mendenhall play at a pro bowl level and the defense gets safety Troy Polamalu back and healthy.
From free agency to the Super Bowl, information is always changing year round for all 32 NFL organizations. From a fantasy football perspective, it’s almost impossible to keep up with all the changes and figure out what those events mean in terms of success or failure for a player or team.

This is why we have our current fantasy football information about each particular team right here in the articles’ section to help you. Feel free to scroll through the various topics and events that we have deemed worth paying attention to from not just a team perspective but fantasy as well.

In the coming months, we will be adding audio to our player and team pages from our new section of the website called fantasy philosophers. This audio information is dedicated to everyone that just wants to hear quick information about their favorite fantasy teams and players.

Since we understand that most people don’t want to sift through articles and full two hour radio shows to find insightful info, specific audio is a quick way to stay updated on current events in the NFL and fantasy football.

Instead of just giving you current fantasy players from a particular organization, we have also included some of the best players and moments in each teams history. This way you get an idea of not just current events from an organization but where they’ve come from.

Teams with rich history for a curtain side of the football or a curtain position tend to want great players in those areas of their team in the future.

Other organizations are still young or haven’t had much success until this point in time and the best moments in their history are happening right now or in the future. Anyway from Dick Butkus to Barry Sanders we have some of the more memorable moments right here as selected from You Tube.

Before you’re 2010 fantasy football draft begins, it’s always good to see the schedule of particular players you’re prospecting for your future team.

While there is no guaranteeing which teams will be strong and which teams will be weak in a given season, it’s still good to have an idea of the opponents your players will face.

Once the 2010 – 2011 season has started, we will find out which teams are for real and which teams are going to fold up. Who would have thought the Bengals would go undefeated in their division and the Titans would start out losing their first six games in 2009?

Throughout the season, you can always come back to our site and use our schedules for each team and player for your reference. Alternatively, you can also print out or download the schedule as well.

Before The Draft: It will be very interesting to see what happens with the Steelers at the draft. This team has traded away their best receiver and are threatening to trade their quarterback. Roethlisberger will probably stay on the team so don’t expect a big trade in that way.

First Round

18. Pittsburgh Steelers: C Maurkice Pouncey - Pittsburgh need to get back to Steelers football and with this pick they did. Adding Pouncey will only help Rashard Mendenhall and the running game.

Second Round

52. Steelers Select: OLB Jason Worilds – For a team that wants to get back to strong defensive play this is a good player to help do that. In a three – four defense, you can always use more linebackers and Worilds should fill in well.

Rounds Three – Seven

Round 3 Pick (82) – WR Emmanuel Sanders

Round 4 Pick (118) – DE Thaddeus Gibson

Round 5 Pick (151) – OT Chris Scott

Round 5, Pick 33 (164) – CB Crezdon Butler

Round 5, Pick 35 (166) – LB Stevenson Sylvester

Round 6, Pick 19 (188) – RB Jonathan Dwyer - Dwyer will make for a very nice compliment to Rashard Mendenhall this up coming season.

Round 6, Pick 26 (195) – WR Antonio Brown

Round 7, Pick 35 (242) – DT Doug Worthington

With the trade of Santonio Holmes look for the Steelers to run the football more often in 2010.
